It was another great weekend of racing for both the Men's and Women's team. On Saturday Danielle Fischer (Cat 4) and Lydia Mathger (Cat3) placed 3 and 4th at the Turtle Pond Road Race in Louden, NH. The two worked together both earning a top 10 finish.
On Sunday both the Men's and Women's team had top 10 finishes at the Quabbin Reservoir Road Race. Kristen Gohr (Cat 2) and Lydia Mathger (Cat 3) showed the strength of the Colavita Women's team by finishing 2nd and 10th respectively. In the Men's Cat 4 race, powerhouses Brian Quigley and Jason Moriarty placed 8th and 9th.
Quabbin Race report (women's race) provided Kristen Gohr:
It was a perfect day for racing, 90 degrees and full sunshine! We started off with a neutral start that headed downhill at 35 miles per hour. The 44 starters stayed together through that descent but were quickly broken up by an attack by the three Anthem Sports WCT riders. We had a break of 12 for about 20 miles and then we slowly lost a few here and there as the pace was kept high. By the final approach we were down to a group of 8. I felt good leading the pack into the park for the final climb. I started my sprint a shade too soon and was ousted at the line by Anne Marie Miller, current National Champion. All-in all a great day of racing.
